Abstract

Although the reorganisation of the health services in Scotland and Wales have the same broad intentions as in England, it will be carried out very differently. The general aim of the health plans are the same for all three countries. Broadly these are replacing the internal market with a system of long term agreements and a philosophy of collaboration. They also seek to design services around the needs of the patient and this includes moving decisions over what services should be provided to primary care level.
