Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is the most common acquired demyelinating disease of the CNS. Despite many advances in understanding the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis, an absence of disease-specific or stage-specific biomarkers exists, necessitating the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of patients via imaging. MRI is the most powerful tool for differentiating multiple sclerosis from its various mimics and for monitoring disease activity.
