Photographs. Tables. Bibliography. Index. Pp. ix, 230. £14.99. This book is a fun asset for the history buff of the Eastern Front. Zaloga and Ness have amassed a wealth of data on unit tables of organization and equipment and their frequent mutations. It has excellent photographs (all black and white) of all types of weapons, from artillery and mortars, to tanks, and rifles and machine guns. The only way this book would have been improved was if it had color photos or drawings of uniforms and information on weapons capabilities such as range, weight of projectile, rate of fire, bursting radius of shells, etc. This is a worthwhile reference for the scale modeler, war gamer, and reader with a general interest in the Red Army of the Second World War.
