Abstract
In 408 children from 1978 to 1988 rectal bleeding was evaluated in relation to sex, age, etiology and laboratory examinations. Anal fissures and juvenile polyps were the most common causes, invagination and parasitic infections the next. The different possibilities of treatment are analysed.
