Abstract

The printed wiring boards from waste computers consist of various metals, refractory oxides and fiber-reinforced plastics. This report contains magnetic separation of printed wiring board wastes as pretreatment on the recovery of valuable metals and the removal of toxic materials. The magnetic separation was used to separate the crushed board fraction into magnetic and non-magnetic fractions by using a ferrite magnetic separator and RE -Roll separator for rough particles and wet high-gradient magnetic separators for fine particle, respectively. The magnetic fractions of board waste were higher in rough particle size and non-magnetic fractions were in fine particle size. The distribution of main metals were discussed about the separated fractions by magnetic separator.
