Abstract

A fast, compact optical clock recovery device that uses a regeneratively modelocked semiconductor laser had been developed, and a 40 GHz optical clock signal was successfully recovered from a 160 Gbit/s data stream. It was confirmed that the regeneration loop is effective in achieving stable operation with low timing jitter.
