Abstract
Benign tumours of the condylar head and TMJ ankylosis are needed for resection of the condyle. The reconstruction can be either of autogenous costochondral rib graft in the growing child, pedicled bone graft and/or prosthetic implant. Vertical ramus osteotomy and superior sliding has been advocated as an alternative treatment. Material and methods Five patients were referred to OMS Department with problems of mouth opening and facial asymmetry. Osteochondroma was suspected in four patients and one TMJ ankylosis.
