Abstract

A non-iterative time-domain method for solving the inverse scattering problem for the temporally dispersive, linear, homogeneous, and bi-isotropic slab at normal incidence is presented. The inverse scattering problem is to determine (finite time traces of) the susceptibility kernels of the medium given (finite time traces of) the reflection and transmission kernels, which are obtained by deconvolution of the scattered fields. Two numerical examples illustrate the method for this kind of noisy data. A series representation of the solution of the direct problem is obtained as well.
