Abstract
Surgeons face many challenges when tasked with reconstruction in the maxillofacial complex. In particular, resection of the mandible often results in defects missing both hard and soft tissues. Reconstructing the jaws is challenging and often requires multiple surgeries to achieve dental rehabilitation, which can take up to 12 months. During this lengthy rehabilitation, it has been shown that edentulism has a significant emotional impact on patients.1
