Abstract

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is increasingly used for analytical-scale enantioseparations. Alongside more traditional methods, such as capillary zone electrophoresis and capillary electrokinetic chromatography, several special techniques (partial filling of the CE capillary, non-aqueous separations) and capillary electrochromatography are currently being developed. The introduction of new types of chiral selectors, the combination of different chiral selectors, and mechanistic studies involving other instrumental techniques are the most recent developments in this field. The on-line coupling of chiral CE with mass spectrometer may be very useful for bioanalytical problem solving.
