Recent progress in geodetic surveys of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey

Abstract

During the past year, the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey has had in continuous operation two triangulation‐parties in the mountains of the far Western States, one triangulation‐party operating in the Middle Western States, and one triangulation‐party operating in the Eastern States. All of these parties are double units observing at night on signal‐lamps using first‐order direction theodolites. Those in the Middle West and East are using the portable steel triangulation‐tower.
