Abstract
The main theme of the paper is the development of a simple but efficient facet element for the non-linear analysis of shells. A sub-theme involves the development of an efficient ‘resultant approach’ for dealing with plasticity. Finally, the paper considers some recent developments in relation to path-following for problems involving instabilities or ‘near instabilities’.
