Abstract

Catalyst plays a central role in organic transformations. Designing an efficient, cheap, stable, and green catalyst is the recent interest of chemists. Magnetic nanoparticles coated with ionic liquids, biopolymers, amino acids, etc. are synthesized easily as an effective nanocatalyst for organic reactions including trisubstituted pyridine and imidazole derivative. Since the pyridine and imidazole derivatives are bioactive compounds and have a large spectrum in biological, agricultural, and other activities synthesizing these molecules in an advanced yield, at mild conditions, and environmental benign approach is an utmost interest. Therefore, iron-supported magnetic nanoparticles are used to synthesized the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds in an advanced yield, nontoxic, recyclable, and mild reaction conditions. The present review highlights the synthesis of trisubstituted pyridine and imidazole derivatives using different magnetic nanoparticle catalysts. The reaction mechanism that shows the impact of the nanocatalyst, their recycling, and synthesizing strategies of the magnetic nanocatalyst by modifying agents is demonstrated.
