Abstract

Objective To investigate the curative effects of periareolar incision and traditional surgical treatment on benign breast tumor. Methods Eighty-four patients with benign breast tumor were divided into study group and control group by random number table method, with 42 cases in each group. Patients in the study group were treated by periareolar incision treatment, and patients in the control group were treated by traditional operation. The surgery, breast surface appearance (degree of pigmentation, scar, breast shape, nipple and areola) and the incidence of complications, satisfaction with breast appearance between the two groups were compared. Results There was no significant difference in the operation time or blood loss between the two groups (P>0.05). The incision healing time in the study group was less than that in the control group, the difference was significant (P<0.05). The scores of pigmentation, scar, breast shape, nipple and areola were higher in the study group than those in the control group, the differences were significant (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the study group (7.14%) was lower than that in the control group (23.80%), and the difference was significant (P<0.05). The satisfaction degree in the study group (95.24%) was higher than that in the control group (78.57%), and the difference was significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The periareolar incision treatment of benign breast tumor is better than traditional surgery, which can reduce the wound healing time and hospitalization time, improve breast surface appearance degree, reduce the incidence of complications with high safety, and is worth of popularization. Key words: Periareolar incision; Traditional surgery; Benign breast tumor
