Abstract

Abstract Combining multiple mechanistically distinct reactions in one-pot (tandem reaction) is a fascinating area in catalysis research. The tandem reaction becomes the subject of interest as it offers environmentally benign, green, and sustainable process with high atom economy, minimizing the loss of reagents, consumption of energy and chemical waste generation. Considering the advantages and usefulness of metal catalyzed tandem reaction, the present review focuses on highlighting the use of different metal complexes (monometallic, homodimetallic and mixture of multiple metal complexes) in conducting tandem reaction. Further, a special emphasis is given to the heterodimetallic systems, considering their usefulness in ease of modification of active centers, elimination of catalytic incompatibility and better activity and selectivity as compared to mono- and homodimetallic systems.
