Abstract

For emergent situation such as fire rescuing, effective localization and real-time status monitoring are very important because firefighters are always at risks. Generally, firefighters strive the disaster in indoor environment where GPS signals cannot be acquired. In this paper, we proposed an intelligent system of localization and information acquisition for firefighters. Real-time position of firefighter is acquired by dead-reckoning sensors based on step-size measurement. Various physiological sensors are integrated to achieve physical status. Then, necessary information is displayed on an intelligent terminal, glasses-like LCD. Firefighters' physiological status and real-time environmental information are sent to remote databases by wireless mobile networks. Through B/S structure, these real-time information and curves are displayed on the webpage and can be queried at any time and any place. Therefore, the command center can effectively master real status of firefighters and their surrounding environment. Meanwhile, some necessary information can be shared among firefighters. Experimental results show that the proposed system can work well and give strong support for firefighters.
