Abstract

The working of free running multivibrators using fractional order capacitor is studied in this paper. Initially rational approximation methods for the fractional order operator are deeply investigated. Then an equivalent RC circuit is synthesized. The synthesized circuit is used in place of fractional order capacitor. The performance of the circuit is studied by making use of different approximation techniques. It has been observed that the curve fitting based approximation has produced higher frequencies compared to others when fourth order approximation is used. All simulations are carried out using TINA software.
