Abstract

In this work, the as-prepared Au81Pd2Pt9-S8B4.6A3.4 aerogels are composed of cores (Au) and alloyed shells (Pd, Pt, Pd2.8S, PtS and Pd(II)-Pt(II)S2). Thanks to the synergistic effect of bridging S22- and apical S2- ligands, the d-band center of Pt in the as-prepared Au81Pd2Pt9-S8B4.6A3.4 aerogels can be finely tuned to the proper level to greatly facilitate their electrocatalytic activity towards the HER in acidic media (η10 = 4 mV; Δη10 = 25 mV) and the ORR (E1/2 = 0.961 V; ΔE1/2 = 94 mV) in alkaline media. In addition, the as-prepared Au81Pd2Pt9-S8B4.6A3.4 aerogels also have better long-term stability towards both the HER in acidic media and the ORR in alkaline media, which are benefited from the formation of an optimal amount of PtS and alloyed Pd-Pt on their outermost surfaces, which can significantly enhance their anti-oxidation resistance.
