Abstract

As shown above, the labeling technique is a powerful tool for the interpretation of perfect line drawings. If a line drawing is assumed to be extracted correctly from a real scene, at least one of the interpretations corresponds to the real scene. That is, the line drawing is realizable (in this interpretation). If a line drawing is not extracted correctly, or a line drawing is given by a human, it may not be realizable or may even not be interpreted. In the following section the case where line drawings have no interpretations is discussed. The subsequent sections introduce two approaches to the determination of the realizability of labeled line drawings.
