Abstract

The interpretation of a two-dimensional line drawing as a three-dimensional scene is an interesting problem in the field of artificial intelligence. The problem was first solved for the recognition of polyhedra from a real image. Later many research efforts were concentrated on developing theories of interpretation of complex polyhedral line drawings, where the line drawings are assumed to be complete (without extra edges and with no edges lacking). As an extension of the theoretical research, the realizability of line drawings was explored.
