Abstract

The embedding of nanometer-sized functionalised crossbars into conventional CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) circuits is proposed as a suitable architecture for the production of nonvolatile memories with a bit density of the order of 1011 cm-2. Solutions are proposed for the major problems that are expected to be met in this further step into the tera-scale-integration era.
