Abstract
New off-the-shelf technologies allow detailed virtual prototyping of electric drives for Hardware-in-the-Loop testing. For electric vehicles, conclusive testing raises major problems during the prototyping of drive systems and their controllers. This testing has to be carried out with great caution because a simple controller malfunction could damage the prototype, thus delaying the project and increasing design costs.
