Abstract

In recent years the research on real time indoor and outdoor localization is becoming very intensive, due to the possibility offered by new RF technologies and to the wide range of possible applications. Many researches use the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for indoor localization, in particular using the measurement of the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). This paper presents an inverse model of the distance between two BLE devices depending on the RSSI and on the Packet Error Rate (PER). Furthermore, we derived a model of the accuracy of the estimated distance estimated by the RSSI and PER measurements. Many measurements have been carried out to validate the model.
