Abstract

A real time fault detection and diagnosis system, which has been design to cope with transient behaviours of the process, as well as abrupt and incipient faults, is described in this paper. The computational system consists of a knowledge based approach coupled with a fuzzy neural network. Fault detection is performed through the knowledge based system. The fuzzy neural network performs the fault diagnosis task. The real time fault detection and diagnosis system has been implemented through a TURBO C++ program and successfully applied in simulation studies of an industrial process. Single and multiple simultaneous faults have been considered.
