Abstract

A selection rule that forbids transitions between real and spurious states in the dual-resonance model is fully exploited to obtain in a closed form the projector on the real states which contribute to a given pole of a dual amplitude. More general selection rules are exhibited which suggest that spurious states could describe some sort of charged particles.
