Abstract
The article discusses imagery associated with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City's World Trade Center within the photographic public exhibitions Archive created by German artist Gerhard Richter. The author argues that the World Trade Center photographs imbue the other photographs within Archive with deeper meaning. World Trade Center imagery is related to abstract images within Archive depicting the microscopic structure of silicate and strontium. The ways in which Atlas has influence other exhibits and sculpture dealing with September 11 are also explained.
