Abstract

Nurse practitioners (NPs) and other advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), regardless of practice setting, years of experience, or current level of policy engagement, are in a prime position—physically and metaphorically—to excel in the role of advocate. Our problem-solving orientation, use of compelling stories, and skill at building and sustaining relationships are just some of the reasons we are a good fit for the advocacy space. Gale Adcock, MSN, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, is serving her fourth term in the NC House of Representatives. Representative Adcock can be reached at [email protected] .
