Abstract
In this paper, the reactive power influence on power quality (especially THD — total harmonic distortion) for grid connected converter is investigated. This paper deals with the design and implementation of PI current control method in the dq synchronous reference frame for the grid side converter in DPGS (distributed power generation systems) applications. The goals of this paper are to test the reactive power influence on power quality for the grid side converter including a control method with LC filter, a compensation technique for low-order harmonics and to examine the grid current harmonic content with and without harmonic compensation. A comparative study in terms of current harmonic distortion between two different proportional gain values and of the PI controller running in steady state condition with different active/reactive power values is made through experiments. The analyzed structure was implemented and tested in laboratory using a dSPACE setup.
