Abstract

Reactive compatibilization of HDPE based ternary blends with intrinsic tendency to form core‐shell microstructure was discussed in view of microstructure‐property correlations. A series of binary and ternary blends containing HDPE, PA‐6, EVOH, and maleated HDPE were prepared by melt processing and. The rheological, thermal, and mechanical characteristics of the resulting blends were then assessed in terms of transitions in the phase morphologies. The state of stress transfer and the degree of interfacial adhesion were also quantified by tracking changes in the particle size, particle size distribution, and crystallization behavior of the systems having different amounts of compatibilizer.
