Abstract
1. A study was made of the reaction of vinyl ethers and vinyl sulfides with triethyl trithioorthoformate in presence of BF3 etherate; it leads to the formation of dimercaptals and mercaptal acetals of malonaldehyde. 2. A method is proposed for the synthesis of malonaldehyde bis[diethyl mercaptal] from ethyl vinyl sulfide or a vinyl ether and triethyl trithioorthoformate in presence of BF3 etherate.
