Abstract

In this article, we will explore a new way to look at digital storage devices. This approach helps us realize what types of digital storage technologies may be best for a particular application and what combination of storage technologies might be best for a storage system. This article is based on a white paper by Steve Hetzler and Tom Coughlin that focuses on enterprise applications [1]. The analysis can also be used to look at storage in consumer applications, and we will point out implications for consumer applications as appropriate.
