Abstract

The issues raised are based on the analysis and interpretation of the narratives of parents raising children with multiple profound intellectual disabilities, collected in a biographical study. The aim of the research was to try to understand and show the subjective meanings that parents give to their own resources, discovered in the course of the life that they build. Narrative interviews were conducted with twenty parents, who were selected non-randomly, based on their experience of the stress of changing their children’s educational institution. Analysis of the empirical material shows five sources of resource generation, i.e. sources of increased strength for parents in the course of their lives.
