Abstract

This paper proposes a optimal design method of base-isolation device and frame member in a reinforced concrete building. The optimization method was used Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm 2 (SPEA2)which is multi-objective optimization method. The optimization method takes into account a torsion of a building using a pseudo three-dimensional analytical model. Two buildings were selected and re-designed in order to examine the optimal design method. Finally, a comparison was made among design solutions. Consequently, the effectiveness of the optimal design method was demonstrated.
