Abstract

A new comprehensive 2D RBSM-based numerical model for prediction of radiation-induced volumetric expansion (RIVE) of aggregates depending on rock mineral composition is explained in detail in this study. The new model combines the existing model of RIVE of minerals with the new rules, which take into account the anisotropic behavior of minerals. The numerical model also takes into account irradiation temperature, neutron fluence and reactor neutron spectrum. The overall coefficient of determination for the numerical model validation of 0.960 and the residual standard error of 0.961% make the described numerical model suitable for reliable prediction of RIVE of aggregates.
