Abstract
Two computer programs for reliability analysis and reliability-based optimization of structural systems are described. The first program (RBSA) calculates the probability of failure of structural systems by using several approximate bounding techniques. Using a nonlinear mathematical programming package, the second program (RBSA-OPT) performs reliability-based optimization of structures based on the same reliability bounding techniques. Two illustrative examples including reliability analysis and optimum design of frame and truss structures are presented.
