Abstract

An effective administration can be achieved by regular and continuous participation of the staff working in the organisation. In order to monitor this process” institutions go for a paper pen method of marking the attendance in a register and later use it for references. It is basically an old fashioned technique and consumes a lot of time. Since pandemic” contactless process has been preferred in order to avoid the spread of viruses. In this regard, a system that uses face recognition technique to mark the attendance of the staff working in the hospital has been proposed in this work. The system avoids the chance of having Proxy attendance and effectively employs people to participate in a daily basis. Raspberry pi, Open CV, Dlib and python are used in this system. The system works according to the Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) face recogniser to identify the faces of the staffs working in the hospital in real time. LBPH technique is employed to overcome the possibility of Eigen and fishers modules' impacts on light when detecting the face. The attendance is automatically stored in the system in an Excel format. If the staff is absent, an SMS will automatically be generated to the corresponding number that is associated with the administrative department. The proposed system can also be implied in areas of close similarities like government laboratories, confined hospitals and local community dispensaries.
