Abstract

The steady flow in relativistic gasdynamics is studied. There are two possible regimes of flow: (1) a uniform flow and (2) the rarefaction wave. The rarefaction wave is similar to one studied in the Newtonian limit and is confined to a sectorial region. The maximum angle of this sector is smaller and the pressure drop is greater than in the Newtonian case. For the ultra-relativistic fluid the results are described with simple formulae.
