Abstract

ABSTRACT Few data are available regarding the effects of gene expression on growth in Daphnia magna. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of cadmium (Cd) exposure on global gene transcription and growth-related genes in D. magna using RNASeq generated data. Our results demonstrated that Cd exposure decreased gene expression, but did not adversely affect the expression of growth-related genes, suggesting differential allocation of resources to growth avoids the deleterious effect of the toxicant on this trait.
