Abstract
This paper reports the development and first year’s results of a rapid diagnostic virology laboratory. The technics used were based on the early appearance of virus-induced cytopathic effects in tissue culture. The laboratory was concerned with informing the physician whether the patient had a virus and if so, to what group the virus belonged. This was accomplished in many instances in less than 3 days.
