Abstract

Abstract A description is provided for Ramularia decipiens . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Rumex aquaticus, R. crispus, R. dentatus, R. nepalensis, R. orientalis, R. patientia, R. persicarioides, R . venosus . DISEASE: Leaf spot of Rumex spp. Lesions irregular, angular, rust-brown or buff with dark brown border. Size varies from 2-8 mm (mostly 5-6 mm) diam. Sporulation occurs on the underside of leaves and gives a frosted appearance to lesion. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: North America : USA (Dakota, Montana, Wyoming); Asia : China, India, Taiwan, Pakistan; Africa : Kenya; Europe : Sweden, Turkey. TRANSMISSION: Probably wind-dispersal by air-borne spores.
