Abstract

Stimulated electronic Raman scattering and stimulated collision-induced lasers have been observed in optically pumped Tl(62P1/2, 62P3/2)-noble-gas (He, Ar, Xe) mixtures. The Tl(62PJ) atoms were produced by wavelength-selective photodissociation of TlCl with various rare-gas halide laser outputs. Relevant theoretical considerations and the conditions necessary for production of a tunable visible weakly bound Tl-Xe exciplex laser are discussed.
