RADU GYR – CONDUCĂTORUL LEGIONARILOR DIN OLTENIA

Abstract

Radu Demetrescu was very active in Legionary work. As head of the nest, he frequently met with "Captain Corneliu Z. Codreanu". But his main job was to coordinate the delegations of Legionaries in Banie, who encountered problems in different areas, especially when they wanted to organize volunteer activities, such as in the Olt Valley area, in the construction of churches. Radu Gyr represented a complex profile of the Legionnaires. He considered the radical student body, the "generation of fire and dream" as he called it, as the "historical ideal" that reached the culmination of Romanian identity.
