Abstract
Thymoquinone (TQ) is shown to possess anti-Helicobacter pylori activity. The present study aimed to investigate (99mTc) labeled TQ using biodistribution and scintigraphic studies in rabbits and mice. The direct radiolabeling of 99mTc–TQ was achieved using 25 mg/mL of SnCl2·2H2O and 100 µg of TQ at pH 5 provided 99.99 % radiochemical yield. The 99mTc–TQ showed 24 h in-vitro stability in serum and saline. Biodistribution results showed a significant higher uptake of radioactivity in liver and heart. The target/non-target ratio for H. pylori was 2.4, 2.6, 1.9 and 3.7 at 30 min, 1, 4 and 24 h respectively. This study provided an efficient radiolabeling method of TQ.
