Abstract

It is demonstrated that the radioactivity of 188Re, which is of current interest for the use in therapeutic applications in the field of nuclear medicine, can be precisely determined by Cherenkov counting using conventional scintillation counters, ranging from as low as background level to a 10 4 Bq level. Parameters such as sample volume, type of the counting vial, etc., which may affect the detection efficiency of this method, are systematically examined and evaluated.
