Abstract

IN Dr. R. L. Smith-Rose's excellent review of the achievements of radio studies in geophysical research1 there appears a passage which might be misunderstood by those interested in practical ionospheric communications. He says that research has shown “it to be desirable to use aerial systems which project the radiation at a greater angle of elevation than has hitherto been considered the most appropriate”.
