Abstract
An insulator dipole with axisymmetric geometry in an arbitrary medium is studied. The radiation properties of electromagnetic fields of such an antenna are investigated. It is demonstrated that the surface of integration should be closed because the currents on the caps of the insulator make a significant contribution to the fields and input impedance of the insulator dipole. It is observed that the insulated antenna has a more uniform near field along the antenna than the bare antenna. Also, it is seen that the coating material changes the effective length, near field, and input impedance of insulated antennas. >
