Abstract

The method of solving the electromagnetic field problem of computing the characteristics of TE-modes of strip lines is proposed. The problem is reduced to the eigenvalues and eigenvectors problem, which is solved by the finite element method. The resulting solutions provide the possibility of obtaining the distribution of the component of the electromagnetic field and calculate the integral characteristics of the strip line, such as effective dielectric permittivity and characteristic impedance of the equivalent transmission line. The results of calculations for the slotline are presented, which are in good agreement with other published results. The proposed method has no restrictions on the geometric and electrophysical parameters of the lines and can be applied to any structures of striplines in an arbitrary medium.
