Abstract
The American College of Cardiology formed its Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion in early 2017 with multifarious aims to increase diversity in the cardiology workforce.1 Despite the ongoing advocacy toward diversity and inclusion, the cardiovascular work force diversity is lagging. Based on the 2018 Association of American Medical Colleges data of practicing cardiovascular physicians, 3.3% self-identified as Blacks, 4.5% as Hispanics, 18.0% as Asians, and 52.2% as Whites.2,3 However, these numbers strike a contrast with the United States population data, comprising of 12.8% Blacks, 18.4% Hispanics, 5.7% Asians, and 72.0% Whites.
