Abstract
Besides the two known saponins, quinovic acid-3β- O-β- d-quinovoside and 3β- O-β-d-quinovopyranosyl quinovic acid (28→1)β- d-glycopyranosyl ester, two new glycosides having the structure quinovic β acid 3β- O-β- d-quinovopyranosyl(3→1)β- d-xylopyranoside and 3β- O-β- d-quinovopyranosyl-quinovic acid (28→1)quinovopyranosyl ester were isolated from the aerial parts of Z. album growing in Egypt. The structures were elucidated on the basis of hydrolytic and spectral methods.
