Abstract
For a multi-element interaction system, the physical characteristics can be obtained by linear transform with pre-computed results of interaction matrix. In this paper, the application of interaction matrix method to AC loss evaluation of Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) magnet system has been explored. The magnetic field interaction matrices of EAST poloidal field (PF) coils and central solenoid (CS) coils between separate components at unit current are calculated. Then, magnetic field acting on each PF and CS coil, the key parameter during AC loss calculation, can be quickly obtained by a linear transformation of given currents using the matrices. AC losses of all PF and CS coils at different scenarios are evaluated subsequently using theoretical formulas. The results demonstrate that the interaction matrix method are practical and convenient for quick AC loss assessment of EAST magnet system and can be extended to similar calculations for all tokamaks.
